Self-reliance tastes better when it grows on a tree. Playa Pacífica is planting a food forest of 60 to 70 species, and a small, close community is growing up around it.
Food Forest and Gardens
Mango, avocado, lemon, rambutan, cacao, coffee, mangosteen, pineapple and papaya are among the species planted, with fruiting expected between 6 months and 2 years. A coffee starter nursery is on site, residents have exclusive access to offsite community orchards and gardens, and a full-time gardener and handyman are on the property.
Room to Gather
The rancho is a large open gazebo and bar that fits 50 to 100 people and can be reserved for events. The community pool measures about 26 by 15 feet and needs no heating, staying a natural 80°F to 84°F. Homes sit 10 to 15 feet apart with landscaping between them for privacy.
