About Veritas Villages

Understanding Veritas Villages

In today’s divided world, Veritas Villages focus on bringing people together through freedom and practical community sustainability.

We design communities that substantially lower living costs, support greater self-sufficiency, and connect you with like-minded neighbors who share similar values.

With community orchards and gardens, local food production, natural water sources, and renewable energy, our villages give you a great place to live or simply have a “Plan B” if you ever need it.

As one freedom essayist put it: 'We start with the individual, we grow into a family, we form a tribe, we develop a community, and communities come together to build a Citadel.'

The Citadel, properly understood, is not a destination but a direction, a building up from individual sovereignty toward something larger and more durable.

Veritas Villages communities are designed around this same idea. We are not closed systems. We are communities with defined values and architecture that attract people who share them, and which demonstrate, in the physical world, that the ethos can be lived rather than merely held.

What do we mean when we say our residents tend to be “like-minded”?

“Like-minded” doesn’t mean everyone thinks alike. Anyone is welcome to live in a Veritas Village. It means our residents share a set of core values, the same ones behind our F.I.R.S.T. philosophy: Freedom, Independence, Resilience, Sustainability, and Transparency.

Our neighbors tend to:

  • Value personal freedom. They want light rules, a strong say in how their community is run, and the right to live their lives without unnecessary interference. That’s why, for example, our HOA decisions are made by the residents themselves through a transparent, blockchain-based voting system…no HOA President. There are many kinds of freedoms, and we do our best to include as many as possible; financial freedom through Bitcoin, freedom of speech is encouraged among residents, freedom of movement (no 15 minute cities here!), etc.
  • Value independence and self-reliance. They like the idea of the community having its own water, each home supplying its own power with solar and battery systems, the community growing its own food, and simply not depending on a utility company for the basics. It’s very difficult for authorities to make you compliant when they can’t take your water, food and power away from you!
  • Think long-term and plan for resilience. They want homes and communities built to stand on their own, with sturdy concrete construction, and a place they know will be there for generations to experience.
  • Appreciate transparency. They expect honest dealings and open decision-making, and they’re comfortable with modern tools like Bitcoin for buying and spending.
  • Enjoy real community. They like knowing their neighbors, having a conversation while picking fruit in a community orchard, having a community barbecue, and helping one another out, while respecting each other’s privacy and independence. Much like small town life was like 50 years ago. Like-minded neighbors have your back, which is just not the case when you are not part of a community.

Our residents come from many countries, all ages and all walks of life. What they have in common is a desire to live freely, build something lasting, and share that experience with neighbors who feel the same way.

In a Veritas Village you will meet neighbors of all ages, from people with young children to retirees. We are communities of people who are married, people who are single, people who want to raise their kids with good family values and surround themselves with incredible people and beautiful nature.

As our founder, Patrick Hiebert, says “Veritas Villages remind me of when I grew up in the prairies of Canada. We would ride our bikes to the creek and catch fish in the morning, explore nature all day, eat the fruit that grew on the surrounding trees and wouldn’t come home until the street lights came on! My parents knew that it takes a village to raise a child and that the other adults had the same family values as they did. We are recreating that environment of freedom, trust and community spirit in Veritas Villages. Age and financial status doesn’t matter. Freedom and the right to a life where you are in control of your own destiny is not a privilege, it is the natural state of human life.”

What is Veritas Villages?

Veritas Villages are intentional communities built around a philosophy Autris, the parent company, calls F.I.R.S.T.: Freedom, Independence, Resilience, Self-Sustainability, and Transparency. These are not resort developments or conventional real estate projects. They are communities designed for people who want to live in environments that reduce dependence on centralized institutions, from governments to utility providers to financial intermediaries, and who want to build local economies grounded in direct exchange, community governance, and genuine self-sufficiency.

Veritas Villages communities are in multiple countries across the region, with communities in Costa Rica, Panama, and Nicaragua, with plans to continue to expand in more countries. These include Veritas Village - Coronado in central Panama, Veritas Village - Chiriquí in western Panama, Veritas Village - Atenas in Costa Rica’s Central Valley and Veritas Village - Playa Pacifica in Nicaragua. The communities are designed to be off-grid luxury living. Self-sufficiency requires water, waste treatment, food production, and, of course, power in the form of solar. This is not a feature bolted onto a conventional development. It is the architecture.

Properties in Veritas Villages can be purchased with Bitcoin. This is not merely a payment convenience. It reflects the conviction, embedded in the design of the communities, that Bitcoin is the natural monetary layer for communities built on financial sovereignty. The F.I.R.S.T. philosophy and the Bitcoin ethos are not separate things. Both begin from the same premise: that individuals should control their own assets, their own energy, their own food supply, and their own economic relationships.

A community built on independence and self-sovereignty, using a currency controlled by a central bank, would be internally contradictory. Bitcoin resolves that contradiction.

What Guides Us:

The F.I.R.S.T. Principles

Every Veritas Village is shaped by these core ideas:

F - Freedom

I - Independence

R - Resilience

S - Sustainability

T - Transparency

Freedom

Freedom is at the heart of every Veritas Village. We believe in a live and let live approach: if what you do doesn’t harm others, you should be free to do it without interference. Everything we design aims to protect and support your personal freedom.

Independence

Our communities are built to give you the option of true independence. Live comfortably with lower costs and less reliance on the outside world—while still having the choice to join in and support the community’s shared sustainability efforts.

Resilience

From durable home designs to community systems built for the long term, Veritas Villages focuses on resilience—so you’re ready for whatever tomorrow brings.

Sustainability

We design eco-sensible homes and systems that truly work—like solar energy, water recycling, and on-site natural resources. It’s sustainability that makes sense: good for the planet, and good for your wallet.

Transparency

We believe in open communication and full transparency—from answering your questions honestly to using homeowner-led HOAs and even using a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) to provide complete transparency and fairness to operate the HOA.
